Name : Lavaux Saint-Jacques
Producer : Claude Dugat
Vintage : 2017
Name : Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
Region : Côte de Nuits, Burgundy, France
Grape variety : Pinot Noir

Wine characteristics:

  • Dress : THE Lavaux Saint-Jacques 2017 Presents a deep red dress, with purplish shades. Its intense color is a reflection of the concentration and complexity of this wine, while remaining brilliant and clear, indicating a precise and neat vinification.

  • Nose : The nose is very complex and offers a rich aromatic palette. Aromas of ripe black fruit, such as black cherry, blackcurrant and blackberry, dominate. Then come subtle notes of liquorice, violet and pink, characteristics of the terroir of Gevrey-Chambertin. The breeding in oak barrels brings nuances of cocoa, vanilla and toasted wood, well integrated and not suffocating the purity of the fruits. Light touches of spices (pepper, cloves) and a note of undergrowth still add to the complexity of the whole.

  • Mouth : On the palate, the Lavaux Saint-Jacques 2017 is powerful, elegant and very finesse. This wine has an impressive but refined tannic structure, with fine and silky tannins that bring a velvety texture and a feeling of wealth. The flavors of black fruits extend, accompanied by spicy and wooded touches which blend perfectly into the mouth. The acidity is present, bringing freshness and balance, and supports a good length in the mouth. This wine is balanced and harmonious, with a finish marked by notes of black fruit and a slight return of minerality.

  • Length : The finish is long and persistent, marked by a beautiful intensity of ripe black fruits, a hint of liquorice and a slight spicy touch. The minerality and freshness of the Lavaux Saint-Jacques terroir bring depth to the final, extending it pleasantly.

Conservation and childcare potential:

  • THE Lavaux Saint-Jacques 2017 is a wine with significant childcare potential. This 1st vintage is still young, and although delicious now, it can age impressively. Wine will evolve over time to develop greater complexity. It can be kept during 10 to 15 years old, or even more in optimal cellar conditions, and will continue to improve over time.

  • For optimal tasting, it is advisable to let it age a few years or carafer before serving it to allow the wine to open and release all its complexity.

Potting and wines agreements:

  • Meats : THE Lavaux Saint-Jacques 2017 is an excellent wine to accompany red character meats, such as a grilled beef, a veal rib or a Cherry duck breast. It also goes very well with meats in sauce, such as a Burgundian beef, A Wine rooster or a prune rabbit.

  • Refined dishes : This wine goes ideally with elaborate dishes based on mushrooms, such as a Cepes risotto or a Fine wild mushroom pie. He can also accompany poultry -based dishes, such as a roasted chicken with herbs or guinea fowl supremes.

  • Cheeses : THE Lavaux Saint-Jacques 2017 fits perfectly with refined cheeses, like the county, THE Brie de Meaux, or goat cheeses. It can also be served with cheese cheese worn like the Roquefort or the Bresse Bleu.
